Lawn Thatching & Aeration

Thatch is an accumulation, or build-up, of old grass, roots, and other debris. Thatch build-up occurs over time, but once the build-up becomes too dense, it then creates a barrier to water and other nutrients and becomes a great place to multiply if you’re a bug. Though ¼ to ½ inches of thatch can be beneficial to a lawn, most types of lawns need to be dethatched about every other year for optimal lawn health.

Aerating your lawn is a process which creates pockets in your soil that allows water, air, and fertilizer to better penetrate into your lawns roots, thus promoting optimal lawn health. Lawn aeration should generally be performed every other year.
